About Meghann Gervais
Thanks for visiting!
I've always been creative. I come from a creative family, so I suppose it comes naturally. My family is the same way: my mother is a self-taught textile artist and makes the most amazing quilts and wall hangings you could imagine; my grandmother is a self-taught amateur woodworker; my grandfather was an amateur painter; and my dad, well, he might be an awesome mechanic and a racecar driver, but give him a camera, and you see an artist at work.
I started in photography as a young teen and in jewellery in my late teens as a side hobby. Although I started Little Studio Photography in 2005, adding Jewellery in 2007, it wasn't until I got sick with Fibromyalgia and couldn't work that I started doing my art in a serious way for relaxation and income.
I have always been inspired by my Celtic heritage. The ancient Celts have always been renowned for their artistic and creative abilities, and that continues to encourage me to create beautiful, timeless pieces of my own. Other inspirations come from the ancient Greeks and Egyptians, as well as the serene forest setting of my backyard.
Many of my photographs, and more than a few of my jewellery pieces first come to me in dreams. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did creating them.
I have lots of plans for more pieces, and different techniques for making jewellery.
My husband and dog, Arwen, are very supportive and help me more than they could possibly imagine every single day. I run my business, Little Studio Photography and Jewellery, from my in-home studio near Merrickville, making jewellery, doing photography , drawing and creating fiber art.
